In her new collection, Lila Matsumoto \u2013 already perhaps the funniest experimental poet working on this island today \u2013 studies and (em)bosses folly and sincerity as an artist of attitudes. A tall glass of <em>Two Twin Pipes Spout Water<\/em> lubricates the poetic gullet and promotes the elastication of the brain; to be taken eight times daily.&#8217; <strong>&#8211; Callie Gardner<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-small-font-size\">&#8216;Lila Matsumoto\u2019s <em>Two Twin Pipes Sprout Water<\/em> recombines live action, memory-story, dream-frame and sheer supposing. Family and other animals are spiky details and memories are fleshy and ornate diction \u2013 \u2018dulsen,\u2019 \u2018lingy,\u2019 \u2018ogeed\u2019 \u2013 abides with dailiness words. \u2018Eyebread\u2019 showcases Matsumoto\u2019s body-level synaesthesia, jamming poems with pictorial images of iconography and fungus and fetish. Her recurrent musics spice the line-feel: \u201cMusic is flesh juice, is a kind of two-scene milk,\u201d and there\u2019s \u201cA drum high up on a telephone pole\u201d thumping in energy with this lively and beautiful book.&#8217; <strong>\u2013 Lisa Samuels<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-small-font-size\">&#8216;Each Lila Matsumoto poem is multidimensional with \u2018hidden landscape[s]\u2019 tucked under \u2018dizzying folds\u2019 of the vast and tiny. A daily \u2018kindness\u2019, a nourishing \u2018EyeBread\u2019. From \u2018waves of inexplicable \/ energy\u2019 to the mould of \u2018an abducted mushroom\u2019, this is a book of rich material textures, dream fermentations, elemental capers, strange encounters, crystalline garnishings and hyper-molecular brilliance \u2014 \u2018[t]he world is \/ all here\u2019. Lila\u2019s poems recompose themselves before your every sense and leave you reeling in lyric amazement.&#8217; <strong>\u2014 Maria Sledmere<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-small-font-size\">&#8216;A real quantum strangeness abounds in Lila Matsumoto\u2019s poems \u2013 actual glimpses of the life\u2019s fast-running plurality, all the sprouting impressions and perspectives, in misleadingly tidy sentences that unfold like intricate inventions. I thought suddenly of Diane Williams \u2013 the feel is similarly capacious, graceful, jocular, tricky.
